$79,813 to $108,300Fixed-term, full-timeGardens PointReference number: 24942Term: Fixed-term, full-time basis for one (1) year.Remuneration: $94,453 to $128,163 pa (LEVA) (inclusive of $79,813 to $108,300 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading).Location: Gardens PointWho are we looking for?We are seeking a Research Fellow in Transport Operations and Control to join School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.This position provides a unique opportunity to lead research projects in transport operations and control, funded through industry collaborations at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).We are seeking a Research Fellow with expertise in transport engineering and cutting-edge modelling techniques to conduct pioneering research in road operations and control.

We design and improve infrastructure to address real-world challenges such as overpopulation, natural disasters and climate change, and shape the world we live in by engineering liveable and sustainable environments with safe, efficient and reliable infrastructure..What you need to succeedDoctoral Qualification: Completion of a Ph.D. in Transport Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field.Research Expertise: Demonstrated research experience in one more or more relevant research fields such as motorway operations and control, traffic management, transport engineering, network optimization, and transport modelling.Publication Record: A strong publication record in high-impact journals showcasing research productivity.Modelling and Simulation Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in using modelling and simulation tools for traffic operations, such as Aimsun or SUMO.
Strong coding skills in Python (or similar languages) for managing large datasets, developing custom models, visualization, and automating analytical processes.Optimization Methods Knowledge: Experience and understanding of optimization techniques for traffic control (e.g., signal timing, ramp metering) and operational efficiency.Industry and Project Experience: Experience in successfully delivering externally funded research projects and writing competitive research grant applications.Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Life at QUTWe're committed to building a culture that fosters connection between people and purpose.
