Research Assistant - Laboratory, Molecular BiologyLocation: Sydney
Salary: AUD 60,000 - 80,000

THE OPPORTUNITY The Swarbrick Lab are global leaders in the application of cellular genomics to human cancer, aiming to find new diagnostics and therapeutics for challenging cancers. We are seeking an experienced research assistant to continue analysis of large and well characterised clinical cohorts of primary and metastatic cancer samples.
The appointed person will have well developed skills in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry/multi-immunofluorescence, and must be comfortable working with human specimens. Previous experience with single cell technologies is desirable. The appointed person must have a willingness to work with animal models, if necessary, with previous experience desired but not essential.
Salary: Up to $105,400 + 14% superannuation + salary packaging (depending on experience)
Employment Type: 1 year fixed term contract with possibility to extend to 4 years
SNAPSHOT OF BENEFITS Generous salary packaging to save you income tax on your wages thereby boosting your monthly take home pay.Ample opportunities for on-going training and development.Stimulating, diverse and highly international research environment.Flexible work arrangements e.g. start / finish times.18 weeks paid parental leave for both parents including paid superannuation.A range of additional leave types to meet your personal needs.Discounted Health Insurance.Lifestyle discounts with our community partners.WHAT YOU WILL DO Perform cell and tissue preparation for various next-generation sequencing analysis.Optimise new assays for isolation of tissue products for downstream analysis.Process human tissue and blood from research participants.Extraction, QC and clean-up of nucleic acid from tissue and blood samples.Optimise and perform immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays.Basic-mid level microscopy and slide imaging.Liaising with internal and external scientific service providers.Meticulous sample tracking and cataloguing.ABOUT YOU Strong organisational and documentation skills.Experience in molecular biology essential.Experience with commercial nucleic extraction kits highly desirable.Experience in IHC, IF and histology essential.Microscopy skills and image analysis knowledge highly desirable.Experience in cryo-sectioning desirable.Experience working with human tissue and/or primary cell lines highly desirable.Experience in single cell sequencing desirable.Willingness to work with human specimens and animal models essential.HOW TO APPLY To apply for this position, please submit your application with a CV and cover letter as one document, stating why you are interested in this role.
