Reporter, Rural & Regional - Broken HillJob no: 504471Work type: Contract Full TimeLocation: Broken HillCategories: Journalism/Content Making, Social Media/ Digital, Presenter/ReporterBuild strong engagement with local audiencesBroken Hill LocationContract role - 12 months$81K - $90K Plus 15.4% ABC Nominated SuperAbout the RoleABC News is seeking a Reporter to create original, distinctive & innovative rural and regional content for multiple platforms that aligns with ABC strategy.The position based in Broken Hill will enable you to live and work in one of the most unique and interesting parts of the Country.The Far West of NSW covers over 30% of the state and has a long history in the grazing and farming industry, while the role will also allow you the chance to report on the most historic and vital mining region in Australia.With the Darling River and Menindee Lakes only an hour's drive from Broken Hill, you will be part of the team on the ground covering water issues which are vital to the area.The Silver City is Australia's only heritage-listed town and has all the facilities expected of a modern and vibrant community, boasting a large number of restaurants, hotels, and cafes.Key Responsibilities:Creating radio packages for state and national radio programs and audio on demand, filing digital news of the day and feature articles, and contributing to our TV and video on demand platforms.Contributing to planning and commissioning processes to develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences.In consultation with colleagues, identifying and developing local rural and primary industry content that can be shared with other content teams across the ABC on multiple platforms.Contributing to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicating with relevant stakeholders.About YouWith a demonstrated creative approach to content construction and delivery, and proficient experience in live presentation and broadcast, you will bring to this role:Proficient editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.Strong understanding of rural and regional issues that affect and interest the local audience.Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.Demonstrated understanding and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community.Application Process:We would love to see your work.
