NOPSEMA (the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority) is the regulator for Australia's offshore energy industry and has recently expanded its functions to include offshore renewables regulation in its capacity as the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR). NOPSEMA is immediately recruiting experienced industry professionals / subject matter experts in an offshore oil and gas / energy industry discipline to join our Regulatory Operations Division in our Perth office. Candidates with substantial expertise and experience in the areas of offshore petroleum
drilling, subsea engineering, construction vessel operations, vessel-based decommissioning, marine engineering and structural asset integrity
are actively being sought.
We are also seeking individuals with substantial demonstrated experience in one or more of the following disciplines to fill future regulatory positions:
Marine engineering and hull integrity including classification.
Asset structural integrity - jackets and topsides.
Offshore construction, including subsea construction and pipelay.
Marine operations associated with offshore petroleum facilities including FPSOs, MODUs and moored platforms.
Drilling systems, drilling operations.
Heavy lift operations.
Light well intervention.
Carbon Capture and Storage.
In the role of Regulatory Specialist, you will assess safety cases and associated documents and inspect offshore operations and support NOPSEMA's investigations of accidents and incidents. You will also provide specialist advice to and on behalf of the Authority and represent NOPSEMA and engage with industry and other stakeholders.

The key duties of the position include
Duties and Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Develop, maintain and adhere to NOPSEMA core regulatory processes particularly: assessments, regulatory compliance monitoring, reporting and analysis and industry and stakeholder relationship management.
Undertake regulatory enforcement action in accordance with NOPSEMA processes.
Develop and maintain robust internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards relating to the regulation and management of risk.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The roles require candidates that possess the following:
Proven ability to identify, analyse and diagnose problems in a logical and rational manner and demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.
Previous experience in a regulatory capacity, and/or experience in managing risk in a major hazard industry.
Proven experience in dealing with the safety case approach to safety regulation.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels of management.
Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in a relevant industry particularly the offshore or onshore petroleum industry.
