Where you'll be workingThe Goulburn Base Hospital has recently been re-born by moving into its state of the art Clinical Services Building in December 2021. Goulburn now boasts a new state of the art Level 4 Emergency Department, a Level 4 ICU and new Operating Theatres.
What you'll be doingPrimary PurposeThe primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
Position DetailsYour role as the Rehabilitation Registrar will be supported by an intern and two consultants. On most days the consultants are on-site for 6-8 hours. You will be required to do ward rounds, consultations on the other wards, liaise with other treating doctors, and participate in team and family meetings. Support in the hospital includes General Medicine, Orthopaedic, and General Surgical Teams, as well as Radiology, Anaesthetics, and Intensive Care.
The Registrar will have the opportunity to attend teaching at the hospital, including medical RMO training, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings. In addition, specific rehabilitation teaching will be provided by the supervisors in the unit. The Registrar will also be given time to attend training provided through ACT Health as well as through the college via distant learning.
The role would suit an RMO2 or above either already on the rehabilitation training programme or with an interest in doing rehabilitation or geriatrics. It would also suit a GP Registrar looking to gain experience in rehabilitation, particularly in a regional setting. Part-time and flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate.
Participation in the weekend after hours roster is expected, but no night shifts.
