The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.MCV is responsible for delivery of 26 of the 227 recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV) and is impacted by the delivery of approximately 100 other RCFV recommendations. MCV has a strong commitment to improving the safety of families living with violence engaged with the court and working as part of an integrated response. The implementation of these recommendations will strengthen MCV's capacity to achieve this goal. Specialist Family Violence Courts (SFVCs) have been established at all headquarter courts across Victoria. The objectives of the SFVCs are to provide:specialist support and effective legal responses for all victims and perpetratorsbetter and safer access to the courts and specialist servicesappropriate joint responses for victims and perpetratorsa skilled and sensitive workforce.About the RoleThe Family Violence Registrar contributes to the Court's response to family violence, working alongside the judiciary, SFVC Manager, court registrars, support workers, police, legal services and other support services to effectively manage cases involving victims and perpetrators of family violence. The Family Violence Registrar builds relationships with key stakeholders, establishes and maintains links with community services and agencies in their local area, promotes information sharing amongst agencies and makes appropriate referrals. The position operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement. The Family Violence Registrar provides a point of specialist contact for court users involved in proceedings arising from or including allegations of family violence, assists parties to understand court processes and services available, and liaises with all legal and non-legal support services.About YouThe FV Registrar will have a demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of family violence and its impacts on victim survivors, as well as extensive knowledge of the legislation, practices, procedures and policies applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals.
