About the Tasmanian State Service
The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) are looking for suitable Registered Nurse candidates to join our CHaPS Student Program whilst they complete their Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health Nursing with the University of Tasmania. The role is part time from March – October based Statewide in either the South, North or Northwest regions of Tasmania.
In partnership with clients, their families and other health professionals within CHaPS, Program Participants work alongside experienced Child and Family Health Nurses whilst consolidating clinical skills and knowledge to complement their academic learning. Advancing towards independent Child and Family Health Nursing practice, Program Participants are based across different clinical locations, including the CHaPS specialised programs of cu@home and the Parenting Centres in their region.
The role:

Nursing Care: Under the direct or indirect supervision of the Child and Family Health Nurse and in collaboration with members of the healthcare team, plan, implement and evaluate healthcare in collaboration with individuals, groups, families, and communities.
Teamwork: Under the direct or indirect supervision of the Child and Family Health Nurse, interact effectively with clients, their families, and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum child-centred health care.
Excellence in Practice: Ensure active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of client care. This may include participation in research and evidence-based practice.
Learning Culture: Under the direct or indirect supervision of the Child and Family Health Nurse, identify and meet client goals in partnership with clients, their families/significant others.
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, under the supervision of the Child and Family Health Nurse not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

The Team:
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0-5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood service providers.
The CHaPS support families as they transition into parenthood, enhancing parental confidence and capacity, and providing information and services focused on building relationships between children and parents/caregivers.
Details of Appointment
Fixed Term, part-time, day worker position working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing 3rd March 2025 through until 31st October 2025.
*Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.

Location: Statewide
This is a statewide position.
*Your primary work location is flexible and can be located either in the South, North or Northwest of Tasmania. You will be asked to nominate your preferred region within your application.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Current Working with Children Registration.
