This is a 0.8 FTE part-time role. Nunkuwarrin Yunti, the foremost Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in Adelaide aims to promote and deliver improvement in the health and wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the greater metropolitan areas of Adelaide and regional areas to advance their social, cultural and economic status. About the Program: Primary Care Services provides comprehensive primary health care to the Aboriginal community. The multi-disciplinary team consists of Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners, a Clinical Services Officer, Nurses and General Practitioners and General Practice Registrars. Services are augmented by the Oral Health (Dental) Program and a range of visiting medical specialists and allied health professionals. The PCS team liaises and works closely with Strong Mums Solid Kids, the Social and Emotional Wellbeing program and the Community Health Promotion and Education program to ensure a high standard of integrated and coordinated client care.
Job Description The primary role of the Registered Nurse is and not limited to:
Provide proficient clinical nursing care to clients in accordance with best practice standards and guidelines; Plan, implement and coordinate appropriate service delivery options including those of other disciplines or agencies as required to meet individual and/or group health care needs; Oversee the provision of care within the team and act to resolve local and/or immediate nursing care or service delivery problem; Demonstrate and promote an approach to practice that supports the implementation and maintenance of systems to protect clients and staff; Integrate theoretical knowledge, evidence from a range of sources and own experience to devise and achieve agreed client care outcomes; Engage in continuous quality improvement and change management processes; Contribute to effective multi-disciplinary teams, communication processes and staff development; Liaise with external agencies as necessary. Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated vocational experience in a Primary Health Care setting Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or community and the impacts these issues have on Indigenous Australian societies and cultures Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people Sound knowledge of best practice guidelines and protocols Well developed clinical skills and specialist knowledge gained through experience, training and education Proven well developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and network effectively with a range of health professionals and administrative staff Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and show leadership as a member of a multi-disciplinary staff and team Demonstrated ability to function within a complex busy workplace and respond to difficult and/or stressful situations in a calm, sensitive and professional manner Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in continuous quality improvement processes DESIRABLE Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service Experience in a specialised area such as midwifery, child health, aged care, chronic conditions management, emergency care, disability care, mental health, sexual health, management of blood born viral illness Significant experience in the use of Communicare or other electronic client health information management system Experience providing supervision, training, support, including for work placement students Applications close Wednesday 27th November 2024 Please note, a current National Police Check, Working with Children Check and registration with AHPRA is mandatory for this role.
