Mount Gambier & District Health Service is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse/Midwife to join our Surgical Ward team.
Mount Gambier & District Health Service is the largest hospital in rural South Australia, committed to providing a comprehensive range of high quality, accessible hospital and related services.
We deliver acute services ranging from in-hospital care by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetric, paediatric and anaesthetic services delivered by medical consultants.
As a Registered Nurse or Nurse/Midwife in our Surgical Ward, you will play a vital role in assessing patient needs, planning care interventions, and coordinating service delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Assess individual patient needs and develop tailored care plans.
Provide direct person centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift by shift basis with increasing autonomy over time.
Implement and coordinate a variety of nursing interventions.
Provide health education, counselling, and rehabilitation programs to support patient recovery.
Mentor and support newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, and student nurses.
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge base.
Foster collaborative and productive relationships within the healthcare team.
About You You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate.
With demonstrated competence in nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a rural healthcare setting.
