(subject to private practice agreement) Permanent full-time Must be willing to participate in an on call roster across 7 days About the role An excellent opportunity has become available for a passionate and highly driven Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Consultant with skills in Transoesophageal Echocardiography and experience in the provision of thoracic anaesthesia to join a dedicated and progressive team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The RAH is the cornerstone of the reformed SA Health system – harnessing the latest in architectural design in order to create a state-of-the-art health environment for patient and positive working environments for staff. The core focus of this role is to provide clinical services to the highest possible standard to patients, by individual performance and by clinical leadership and contribution to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care. You will be actively involved in the teaching of trainee medical officers, interns and medical students, and where appropriate nursing and allied health. Furthermore, you will participate in clinical audit and quality, safety and clinical risk management activities, as well as research and continuous medical education activities.
You must hold appropriate Specialist Qualifications for Consultant and be registrable as a Specialist with the Medical Board of Australia. In addition, you will be a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent. Bringing demonstrated clinical excellence in the speciality of Anaesthesia, you will have sound knowledge of appropriate clinical standards, policies, protocols and procedures to ensure acceptable practices. With a strong commitment to personal and professional development, you will have proven experience in clinical teaching and quality improvement activities. Flexible and able to work as part of a team, you will possess good communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to liaise effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Appropriate Specialist Qualifications for Consultant status and registration with the Medical Board of Australia, including Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Proven clinical excellence in Anaesthesia, with experience in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Transoesophageal Echocardiography. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a multidisciplinary team setting. A passion for continuous professional development, clinical teaching, and active participation in quality improvement activities.
