About the opportunity There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
This specialised and technical role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the research, analysis, and interpretation of complex economic and social data to support regional and community development initiatives across Western Australia (WA).
This role will specifically support the Western Australian Regional Development Alliance (WARDA), which comprises of nine Chief Executive Officers of the Regional Development Commissions (RDCs) and the Director General of DPIRD.
WARDA fosters collaboration and co-operative effort across the RDCs and DPIRD to encourage, promote, facilitate and monitor economic development across regional WA.
This role will manage and coordinate data reports, develop data tools, and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including the nine RDCs, government agencies, and industry partners.
The position supervises a Data Analyst and oversees the management of regional geospatial systems, strategic planning, and the upskilling of staff in data usage.
Your expertise will influence key decision-making processes, ensuring data-driven approaches to community and economic investment while contributing to the ongoing enhancement of data collection methods and tools.
This role also requires active engagement in interagency collaboration and representation at WARDA industry forums and working groups.

We are looking for individuals with: Advanced expertise in data management and analysis, including the ability to build and interpret complex economic and social data to support regional development strategies and policy implementation.
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, capable of building strategic partnerships across government agencies, RDCs, and industry to drive shared data and coordinated data initiatives for regional growth.
Substantial experience with geospatial systems and data tools such as PostgreSQL, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS/QField, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing ongoing improvements in data collection and usage.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
Peel Development Commission staff, including this position, are employees of DPIRD assigned to the Regional Development Commission under a staffing arrangement (section 29, of the Regional Development Commission Act 1993).
