About the School
The School of Law is committed to excellence and innovation in teaching, research and community engagement. It has a research focus on Public and constitutional law, Human Rights and Social Justice issues and a leading clinical program through the Justice Clinic.

The School offers LLB, JD and combined LLB undergraduate degrees, and an LLM degree, as well as providing law teaching for business degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. LLB programs are taught at Parramatta and Campbelltown and there are approximately 1,600 EFTSL in the Law School.

The Western Sydney University Justice Clinic (WSUJC) demonstrates the School of Law's commitment to providing experiential learning opportunities for its students and a commitment to social justice. Law students who undertake a clinical subject work alongside practicing solicitors doing advice, casework, law reform and policy work and community legal education. The WSUJC also provides a free legal service (the Student Legal Service) to current Western Sydney University students funded through Student Services Amenities Fees.

About the role
The School of Law are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor. The Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor will work in the WSUJC and/or offsite with WSUJC partners in a community development model on legal advice, casework, law reform and community legal education in areas of law relevant to the WSU Justice Clinic.

You will work with WSU School of Law students in a best practice experiential learning model including a therapeutic jurisprudence practice framework and will work under the supervision of the Director & Principal Solicitor and other senior lawyers employed in the WSU Justice Clinic.

About You
The successful candidate will hold a current NSW legal practising certificate with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience as a Solicitor, specialising in community lawyering and access to justice work. You have a proven track record of supervising students or others in a legal environment, and possibly experience in clinical teaching or a tertiary education setting. Your ability to practice law collaboratively with other professions and stakeholders to achieve therapeutic and holistic outcomes for clients is well-documented. You have demonstrated experience working effectively and respectfully with young people, individuals with disabilities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse or marginalised communities. Your background includes significant experience in law reform and policy work. You possess well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with students, clients, management, staff, and external agencies, and to establish professional relationships.

Working with Children Check:
It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 7 $121,056 to $130,572 p.a. (comprising Salary of $102,294 to $110,335 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
