Mount Isa City Council provides employment for approximately 200 employees in a variety of full time, part time, contractual and casual positions.These positions cover the full scope of Council operations from administration, financial, professional and technical roles to operational positions within the various sections.About the roleAn opportunity exists within Mount Isa City Council for a Recycling Coordinator to join our team. In your role as the Recycling Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Material Recovery Facility. You will lead a team of recycling and maintenance staff to ensure the successful separation of valuable materials from the kerbside recycling stream. You will manage the transport and sale of commodity and help drive our community education and deliver our regional waste strategy.Benefits and perksCouncil offers excellent working conditions, generous employer funded superannuation benefits (up 12%), and a 19 day month. This position attracts 5 weeks paid annual leave per year and all personal protective equipment including work clothes are provided.Skills and experienceExperience in managing front line staff.Experience in waste management and recycling.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.High level of strategic ability to develop and implement plans, budgets and operational protocols.High level of oral and written communication skills and computer literacy with proven report writing ability.Current QLD Driver's Licence or ability to acquire a licence prior to commencing in the role.Must be willing to obtain an Authorised Persons card within probationary period.
