As the second in charge, you will report directly to and support the Ranger in Charge to plan and deliver the day-to-day work program in accordance with the business plan. You will lead and guide a small team, inspire enthusiasm, and ensure their safety and wellbeing.Working collaboratively with other Rangers and external contractors, you will deliver annual fire, pest, natural resource, visitor and asset management programs, and undertake plant and infrastructure maintenance tasks in protected areas and State forests. You will directly supervise a small team and work with others to deliver the work program.The Clermont Work Unit incorporates various national parks, conservation parks and State forests within the Clermont-Belyando region, including Epping Forest National Park (Scientific). The Nebo Work Unit incorporates various parks and forests within the area surrounding Nebo, including Homevale National Park, Dipperu National Park (Scientific) and several proposed estate additions.It will be essential that you already hold, or are prepared to obtain, a manual driver's licence. You must be willing and able to regularly travel and camp out in varying climatic conditions and work well in a small team.While you do not need any tertiary qualifications, a formal qualification in a relevant discipline would be highly regarded; as would a certification to use agricultural chemicals and poisons and possession of a Queensland firearms licence.To join our team as a OO5 Ranger, you must have the following skills:Ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholdersExperience operating and maintaining plant and equipment (or the ability to rapidly acquire)An ability to work with others to plan and deliver annual work programs and park management projectsSupervisory experienceAdministrative skills for compiling reports, maintaining records and using computer systems and applicationsExperience managing human resources and budget processesHighly developed communication skills to respond to customer queries, provide advice and carry out park patrolsConfidence undertaking compliance and enforcement activitiesA willingness to support and promote the interests of First Nations peopleThere are two positions available in Clermont and Nebo, please indicate your location preference for this role on your application.
