Details of the offer

As directed by the Ranger in Charge or 2IC, you will plan for, and efficiently and effectively deliver, the Work Unit's Operational Plan and Annual Work Plan. This will include operating and maintaining plant and equipment, controlling pest plants and animals, undertaking planned burning and wildfire suppression activities and maintaining park infrastructure. Most work will be field-based, but you will also undertake administrative tasks. You will also manage small projects, undertake compliance and perform various natural and cultural resource management duties. Practical skills and experience in the maintenance and operation of small power equipment and tools for asset maintenance is necessary.
An important aspect of these roles is providing on-ground supervision to field-based staff and working collaboratively with others. A strong personal work ethic and good communication and interpersonal skills is important. You need to be adaptable and flexible to on-the-ground service requirements to ensure superior park management services are achieved.
As a OO4 Ranger, you must be able to:

communicate clearly.
maintain a positive and supportive approach.
work effectively in a team, as a supervisor and alone.
undertake general estate development and protection duties.
operate and maintain minor plant and equipment.
assist in the development and implementation of the annual works program.
undertake law enforcement and compliance duties.
provide general information in response to queries from park visitors and other stakeholders.
assist with emergency response.
monitor workplace health and safety.
undertake administrative duties including compiling and maintaining records and procuring goods and services.
support and promote the interests of First Nations people.

You need to be willing and able to live in, travel to, work and camp overnight in other locations (including remote and isolated areas) in varying climatic conditions. A reasonable degree of physical fitness is required.
OO4 Ranger (Nebo)
This role assists the Ranger in Charge with the day-to-day management of parks and forests within the Nebo area including Homevale National Park, Dipperu National Park (Scientific), and proposed new park additions and State forests in the Nebo vicinity.
OO4 Ranger (Clermont)
Based in Clermont, this position works with other rangers, volunteers and Threatened Species Operations to deliver the annual work program and other key projects. A highlight of the role is assisting in the recovery of the northern hairynosed wombat.
OO4 Ranger (Byfield)
These roles support the Ranger in Charge and work collaboratively with other staff to implement and deliver the Capricornia Coast work unit annual operational plan. Their primary focus is delivery of the visitor infrastructure maintenance program and associated capital works. The position also supports maintenance of plant and equipment, visitor management, pest and fire management, compliance and cultural heritage protection.
Accommodation is provided for the Nebo and Clermont positions, but not for the two Byfield positions.
