Ranger Coordinator (Female) – Broome Application Closing Date: December 1, 2024 About the Organisation: Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB), delivering native title and other services across the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. YMAC is run by a First Nations board of directors, representing several native title groups, each of whom have their own language, culture, traditions and protocols.
About the Role: YMAC's Research, Country and Culture Services (RC&CS) team provides Research, Heritage, Social Surrounds and Land & Sea Management services to PBC's and Traditional Owners in the management of their Country and Culture. YMAC is currently seeking a talented and committed Nyangumarta Female Ranger Coordinator to provide direction and leadership for a young group of Nyangumarta rangers in their on-country environmental and cultural management activities.
This position reports directly to the Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA Coordinator, under the guidance of the General Manager of the Nyangumarta Warrarn Aboriginal Corporation and the YMAC Land and Sea Management Program Manager.
Position Responsibilities: Provide daily leadership, coordination and supervision of the Nyangumarta Ranger Group in their land and sea management duties. Coordinate the design and implementation of the Nyangumarta ranger annual work plans for the protection and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage. Support and develop the ranger group in their formal and on-the-job training activities. Coordinate and manage the ranger group budget and fee for service opportunities. Integrate traditional ecological knowledge with modern land and sea management practice. Liaise with existing and potential clients in delivering services in land and sea management. Promote responsible work practices to ensure a healthy and safe work environment while on country. Report to and liaise with the Nyangumarta Warrarn Aboriginal Corporation. Current manual driver's licence. Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with Aboriginal communities. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to prioritise work tasks. Strong organisational skills. Desired: Experience in working independently in a remote area. Demonstrated experience in project administration and finance management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures and heritage.
