Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia's leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria.
We develop, promote and manage the conduct of thoroughbred racing in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.
We seek an experienced and driven Racing and Analytics Specialist with a demonstrated understanding of racing and wagering analysis, analytics, and reporting.
Experience in system development, or a willingness to learn, is essential.
This is a key role within the Betting & Intelligence Unit (BIU), which operates as part of the wider Integrity Services Department (ISD).
In this role, you will utilise cutting-edge technology to monitor, collate, and investigate integrity concerns.
While there is a strong emphasis on form and wagering analysis, you will also be responsible for managing and implementing racing-related systems, contributing to intelligence-based investigations, and upholding the integrity of racing.
The Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager – Betting and Intelligence Unit (BIU), this role is responsible for: Providing technical advice on wagering and form analysis and supporting raceday operations.
Proactively identifying integrity concerns through monitoring & analysis which has the potential to lead to integrity investigations.
Supporting and enhancing analytical tools and driving innovation when providing a service to internal and external stakeholders Driving new ways of working in betting intelligence, including innovating processes and digitising statistics and reporting.
Critical to this role's success is someone capable of delivering BIU core functions (supporting raceday operations) along with proactively generating investigative leads through Intelligence analysis, supporting systems, and innovating processes and statistical reporting.
The suitable candidate would need to be experienced in the above responsibilities but also resilient, a great communicator and confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
The pathway of development for the successful candidate would include receiving exposure and training in the Intelligence landscape, and systems in addition to further training and development in areas that can assist the incumbent be successful in the role.
About you: As the successful candidate, you must possess the following: Demonstrated analytical skills, especially in the collation and interrogation of data and report writing; Established extensive and intimate knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Racing, Betting and their application; Demonstrated excellence in race reading skills and ability to analyse race footage and make informed judgments; Proven working knowledge of Bookmaker operations and betting systems; Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, especially in the collation and interrogation of wagering and form data report writing; Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills to enable interaction with a diverse range of key stakeholders; Competence in using analytical software, use of major Microsoft applications and the ability to maintain and construct databases; Demonstrated excellence of race times, ratings and wagering markets; Understanding of the biomechanics of horse and jockey movement; Demonstrated experience providing analytical and investigative support to investigations.
Post-Secondary or Tertiary qualifications in R Programming language or other programming languages, Statistics, Analytics or related disciplines preferred but not essential.
Willingness to learn above languages desirable.
