DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct and coordinate the company's quality program, including quality management systems and procedures. Determine, negotiate and agree in-house quality procedures, standards and/or specifications Perform internal quality audits to both regulatory and customer requirementsContribute to the overall business strategy whilst maintaining a collaborative relationship with other departmental managers; Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and FinancePromote a positive and accountable culture in which employees are encouraged to engage and take lead in a continuous improvement environmentEnsure Quality Team reduce non value added activity in all processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniquesCompile quality control reports, create statistical process control metrics, manage non-conformity material discrepancy reports and recommend continuous improvement activitiesAssess customer requirements and ensure these are metAct as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/qualityPrepare monthly summaries of quality issues for presentation to the senior management team. Monitor the ongoing performance and outputs of the quality processWork with Operations to apply pertinent Six Sigma Green/Black Belt attributes and other quality procedures appropriate to the business objectives. Support Purchasing with annual business reviews of key suppliers. Work with Engineering on new component introduction, alternative raw materials, tooling requirements, test plans, and product qualification requirements. Communicate and share the company quality philosophy to key personnel in the company. Keep senior management abreast of significant developments identified during quality control activities. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Strategic Anticipates the impact of change and rises to the challenge, with the ability to accept risk and uncertainty (Dealing with ambiguity)Able to understand the business needs and drivers (Business Acumen)Operating Able to define, work within and improve business processes based on immediate and future business needs (Process management)Will set clear, stretching goals and assign responsibilities that bring out the best work from people (Directing others)Be willing to provide colleagues with the information they need to complete their tasks and eliminate roadblocks (Informing)Courage Can identify the skills required by the business and hire effectively (Hiring and staffing)Can be counted on to take personal responsibility in challenging situations and be willing to engage in disputes in order to settle them equitably (Conflict management)Energy and Drive Will dependably achieve what he or she sets out to do, and expects others to do likewise (Drive for results)Personal and Interpersonal Able to motivate a wide range of individuals, including direct reports, team members, and project members (Motivating others)Firm and diplomatic when negotiating (Negotiating)Qualifications Essential: Six Sigma green beltDesirable: Six Sigma black beltISO9001 lead auditor qualification.Experience Essential: experience leading a quality function/ team Desirable: experience within a quality engineering, or quality control positionZero Defects philosophy QMS Implementation, development & operationSkills, training or special knowledge Essential: Understanding in Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T)Use of Quality tools, such as: FMEA (design & Process), Process mapping (SIPOC)Problem solving; including root cause analysis, corrective actionDesirable: Use of Minitab statistical softwareStatistical Process Control (SPC)APQP/ PPAP (automotive/ Aerospace or other industry)8D problem solvingQuality Assurance Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.
Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.
Training Participate in training where required.
Health, Safety and Environment Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.
To be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.
