Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium, and Rare Earths markets.
Job Summary: As the Quality Manager, you will develop, maintain, and verify implementation of the quality activities of a project assignment. You will manage and coordinate the project quality program/plan activities associated with one or more functions in engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a project.
Your communication and stakeholder management skills will maintain client liaison and communication for project quality activities, and you will advise management of project quality problems and progress.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Major Responsibilities: Direct quality activities on the project, communicating with engineering, procurement, construction, administrative services, commissioning, and other project personnel to ensure management goals and objectives are met. Co-ordinate the preparation and implementation of the quality program/plan within the project. Also responsible for coordinating the implementation of the KASE program. Reviews and approves quality-related procedures prepared on the project to ensure compliance with the quality program/plan. Trains quality personnel assigned to the project. Co-ordinates, supervises, and/or participates in the project auditing and monitoring program to verify the effectiveness of the quality program/plan. Recommends actions to project personnel to correct observed quality deficiencies. Other responsibilities as designated. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Lead Auditor certification from an accredited body. Required Knowledge and Skills: Successful track record of leading teams in complex environments. Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Assurance Requirements, and their application to construction, engineering, acquisition services, supplier quality, materials management, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated proficiency in implementation and management of quality assurance programs. Knowledge of advanced techniques for assessment, event investigation, cause analysis, human performance, and corrective action. Demonstrated leadership in management of change initiatives. Proven record of senior level management credibility and accomplishment. Demonstrated knowledge of design, procurement, construction, start-up, commissioning, and operation. Demonstrated knowledge of current construction industry trends, innovations, and regulatory construct, for industry. Knowledge of the application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions. Proficiency in oral and written communications. Proficiency in providing direction and on-the-job training to assigned personnel. Previous experience in development and maintenance of quality assurance programs related to the construction of industrial facilities. Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
