Montague Farms stretches from Legana in Tasmania right up to Batlow in New South Wales, stopping on the way at Narre Warren North, Harcourt, Ardmona, Dilpurra and Mildura. It consists of 1,000 hectares of productive orchards and significant packing operations. Montague Farms produces apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, grapes and citrus.
Our business is expanding through organic growth and as a result we are seeking candidates for the role of Quality Controller within our Farm Operations Team.

About the role:
The Quality Controller (QC) will be responsible for the supervision and record keeping of both orchard fruit quality and packed goods where required. The QC will oversee all applicable stock defects, investigate and control product specifications, as indicated by the QA Manager and Orchard Manager. The QC will support employees to ensure high levels of quality, yield and pack out. The work will be performed in the orchards as well as in the packing sheds (internal and external) where needed. About You:
Have previous horticultural / agriculture experience working in fruit orchards in particular apples, stone fruit and cherries. Demonstrated experience identifying pests and diseases that affect the quality of the fruit. Quality test including brix, pressure, fruit size, colour and starch testing. Have strong communication skills. Advise and inform the Farm team of daily specifications required (grading & recording of fruit defects, level of stock etc.). Escalate any concerns to the Quality Manager, Field Supervisor and Farm manager. Ensure that the stock being picked or packed is as indicated by the QA Manager. Ensure that all record keeping is updated in real time. Be capable of working flexibly within both a team environment and independently when needed. Be motivated, enthusiastic, positive and show initiative. Have a willingness to learn, be punctual and reliable. Be physically fit, love working outdoors in all weather conditions. Demonstrate a good work ethic with a sense of pride in your work. Have a positive attitude toward all aspects of Work Health and Safety. Hold a current, unencumbered driver's license. First Aid Certificate is highly regarded.
