The Project
U GL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North-West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.
The project scope includes:
500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
up to six new substation sites.
This exciting project has commenced, and we are currently looking for an experienced Quality & Completions Manager with 5-10 years experience to join the team. The role will be based in Brisbane initially and will transition to site on a 15/6 FIFO roster.
Working with guidance from the HSEQ Director, the Quality & Completions Manager is responsible for leading and managing quality and completions systems and processes for the CopperString project, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards and operational requirements while driving process improvements to enhance project quality and efficiency.
What will a day in this role look like:
Implement and maintain quality assurance systems to meet project objectives and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies through audits and corrective actions.
Support project leadership in fostering a quality-focused culture and driving business improvement.
Manage quality-related risks, monitor compliance, and address issues impacting project delivery.
Guide and support team members on quality assurance practices, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
Extensive experience (5-10 years) in quality and completions management within construction, mining, or energy sectors, with strong on-site exposure and process expertise.
Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction, quality management, or project management, along with certifications such as Quality Lead Auditor, Advanced First Aid, and Work Safe Induction.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proven ability in quality assurance, process analysis, and project management, supported by a current National Police Check and unrestricted driver's license.
Strong leadership, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively lead teams and manage workloads.
Advanced expertise in quality management systems, including ISO 9001:2015, with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn in dynamic environments.
Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain resilience under pressure while driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
