Mater Mothers' Hospitals Brisbane is currently looking for Quality and Safety Associate based at our South Brisbane campus in a permanent full-time capacity.
About the role This position reports directly to the Mater Mothers' Hospitals (MMH) Quality and Safety Manager and is responsible for activities as delegated relating to Quality and Clinical Safety management, and accreditation, across the hospital/service, which are essential to the licensing, service level agreements and contracts.
Provide leadership and support to MMH Quality and Safety Manager and clinical department managers to implement quality and risk management systems and improve quality and safety outcomes;Provide leadership and support to MMH Quality and Safety Manager and department managers in incident and complaint investigation and coordinate actions to prevent recurrence;Support/facilitate the implementation of innovation and systems improvement that eliminate/reduce patient harm;Work collaboratively with other clinicians to facilitate process improvement strategies that support patient safety and the achievement of quality and safety goals;Collect and analyse patient safety and clinical outcome data to evidence the effectiveness of the quality and safety system;Evaluate quality and safety outcome data to identify opportunities for continual improvement and make recommendations to relevant hospital committees;Support the MMH Quality and Safety Manager to improve the effectiveness of the quality system and monitor compliance with policies, the implementation of corrective and preventive actions and survey recommendations;Work in collaboration with the MMH Quality and Safety Manager and Hospital Executive team to coordinate the implementation of recommendations arising from root cause analysis or other system or case reviews;Monitor literature and professional organisations for new or revised best practice related to quality and safety;Continuously evaluate and improve the hospital's quality and safety program based on internal needs and external requirements and standards;Provide education/training related to quality and safety, incident investigation and management and the use of incident reporting tools as required.About you You will also have at least 5 years frontline midwifery and/or neonatal clinical experience (ideally at a clinical midwife/nurse level) and intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
Demonstrated experience in developing working relationships to achieve identified outcomes and an ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to provide empathetic communication in difficult situations.Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in health service delivery with appropriate clinical knowledge, experience and skills is essential including a basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the hospital.Demonstrated experience or a willingness to gain an understanding of quality improvement initiatives and their practical application.Demonstrated experience or a willingness to develop analytical skills to trend and interpret data and provide reports on data/information used for projects, evaluation and process improvement activities.Mater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
