We are looking for a Food Safety, Quality & WHS Manager to join our Costa Avocado & Banana Team.
This role will be based in Childers, Queensland and will report to the National FS&Q Manager.
About the Role: The Food Safety, Quality & WHS Manager drives better performance of Food Safety, Compliance and Culture alongside improving the WHS standards at the Childers Avocado sites located in Central Queensland.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the region meets the required customer and compliance standards along with Federal, State and Local Government legislative requirements.
The role requires good communication skills between the farming, packing and administration staff in order to improve the Costa Avocado compliance for domestic and international auditing bodies.
This role is also responsible for providing WHS generalist advice and support to the farms and pack shed operations with a key focus on in the field and pack shed safety, employee engagement and the Return to Work Process.
Where requested support may be required from time to time the broader business.
This role is focused on supporting day-to-day safety requirements, proactively building relationships and engaging with key stakeholders in the regions; empowering leaders to be better safety leaders and ensure safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Liaise with our own farming and third party grower networks to ensure that product packed is to customer requirements.Lead the team and support where required with any internal or external Quality Assurance, WHS / market access audits to ensure compliance.Be present with any customer on-farm visits.Assist with own farm and third-party farming compliance with MRL's and quality assurance programs.Assist with own farm and third party SEDEX on-boarding, training and assisting with any external audits.Ensure all documentation / policies / SOP's, SWP's and RA's are kept up to date.Engage in cross-functional work outside of the Costa Avocado BU to share best practice scenarios.Assist the QA team with any environmental initiatives where required.Drive the implementation of outcomes from the Costa Food Safety, Quality & WHS strategic plan.Proactively look at initiatives that will assist with waste reduction whether product/process or system.Act as conduit for information ensuring farming operations are able to meet the requirements of marketing initiatives through a compliance lens.Provide assistance to customers and be present for any on-farm visits.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on customer rejections and customer severity one complaints and provide prompt responses to the National FS and Quality Manager for Avocados and Bananas.Ensure all customer requirements are met as outlined in their policies and requirements.Support leaders in monitoring, analysing and investigating reported injuries, incidents, and near misses and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken in consultation with the Managers and other Key Stakeholders to minimize risk.Support leaders and managers in understanding and achieving their responsibilities across quality, workplace health, safety, and wellbeing through the WHS and QA strategic Plan and Key performance indicators.Education, Qualifications, Training Requirements: Minimum 5 years' experience within Quality Assurance supporting farms and or production facilities.Certification in QA standards or related field, or equivalent experience.Qualification in Training and Assessment or relevant experience.WHS experience will be advantageous.Skill & Knowledge Requirements: Understanding of horticultural process and systems, continuous improvement principles and supply chain process.Must be able to demonstrate a sense of urgency and willingness to learn.Self-motivated, organised and work independently.Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to use initiative to evolve and improve a business.Ability to prioritise, manage and communicate effectively at all levels.Ability to work in a fast-paced customer driven environment.High attention to detail.Lead by example.What we offer: Permanent, full-time position working within a collaborative environment with a team that has a high-performance mindset.
