A job to be proud of: As the Purchasing Lead, you will take on a vital leadership role, guiding a dedicated team to implement and drive the organisation's purchase to pay strategy. This is more than just managing daily operations; you will shape the future of Purchasing within St John WA, ensuring that processes are not only efficient but aligned with the organisation's long-term goals. Your leadership will empower the team to optimise purchasing practices and performance, and foster strong supplier relationships, ensuring we meet supply demands.

This 12-month contract, covering maternity leave until November 2025, offers you the chance to take a strategic role in shaping the purchasing framework for an iconic not-for-profit organisation. You will lead efforts to streamline purchasing operations, manage suppliers, and drive cost-effective purchasing solutions. By taking ownership of key purchasing strategies and processes, you'll contribute to the long-term sustainability and success of St John WA, helping ensure that essential services continue to reach the community effectively.

What you'll do: Foster a positive and productive work environment Ensure daily purchasing operations are executed through the department function utilising the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Be an expert in the use of purchasing systems and lead on the implementation of Purchasing for any future ERP. Review the purchase to pay process and identify process improvements. Maintain monthly reporting on the performance of the purchasing function Lead on the operational management of suppliers of inventory items, working closely with the Procurement team Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in the purchasing workflow. Develop and implement effective supplier performance reporting mechanisms to track key metrics and ensure suppliers consistently meet agreed-upon standards. What you'll need: Qualifications in supply chain related disciplines; or minimum of 3 years' experience in purchasing and/or leadership Substantial experience in purchase order management, vendor communication, and purchasing administration to ensure efficient and effective acquisition of goods. High attention to detail, ensuring precision in tasks and contributing to error-free processes. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, fostering positive relationships internally and externally to support effective collaboration. Experience in roles where the primary responsibilities were centred around purchase to pay activities incorporating warehouse operations, such as purchase order management, vendor communication, and administration. Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment. Experience in purchasing roles within the health or emergency services sector What's in it for you?
