Management (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) Full time The Role
As the Fleet Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the effective operation, management and leadership for the PUD related activities across 2 Melbourne locations. This involves a proactive collaboration with both the PUD and handling function along with the TGE line-haul team to ensure service level DIFOT targets are met in a safe and economical manner.
Safety and compliance are of highest importance, so the oversight of this role is to ensure staff are appropriately trained and managed to the levels expected. Vehicle maintenance for the PUD is also a key responsibility of this function ensuring that all fleet is serviced and maintained to the TGE standards. Other critical safety areas such as driver fatigue management, load restraint, load manifest / scanning and dangerous goods compliance also fall under the responsibility of this role.
You form part of the state operations team reporting to the Branch Manager - Altona. Your responsibilities include maintaining a safe work environment, up to date vehicle servicing, staff training / development, effective management of costs and a key leader to meet the service levels (DIFOT) performance of the state.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Management responsibility directly for the pickup and delivery requirements.Repair and Maintenance of all fleet related assets.Compliance training kept up to date for all PUD employees.Ensure across the state the effective utilisation of company assets and minimal use of outside hire.Responsibility for effective staff management including oversight of annual leave / RDO and peak planning management.Support the business to continue to improve systemic requirements which includes scanning and reduced overall manual processes.Achieve PUD key metrics including load utilisation, tonnes per hour, contacts per hour, futile and carry over freight.Active leadership and engagement for the peak planning requirements throughout the year.Participate in or conduct regular safety inspections and safety observations.Develop employee skills to meet future business growth requirements.Ensure all permanent and casual staff are trained to complete their tasks safely and efficiently.Apply disciplinary processes if required in line with TGE's guidelines.Maintain effective employee and industrial relations processes.Undertake specific projects and tasks as directed by management.Regular communication to driver and handling staff through toolbox meetings.Develop and maintain succession plans for current role and direct reports.Constantly work to promote safe work practices and safe working environments.Assist with leadership, guidance and support to other Account Managers, Sales and Marketing teams for both retention of existing client base and to grow increased profitable sales revenue.About Team Global Express Team Global Express (TGE) is an Australian-owned transport and logistics business delivering to Australia and New Zealand.
