Psychiatrist - Older Persons Mental Health This service provides expert mental health care to adults over the age of 65 years who are experiencing mental illness, dementia with behavioural or signs of longstanding mental illness complicated by age related illness. The team provides both short and longer term mental health care.
Position of Staff Specialist/Consultant Psychiatrist will support the development, clinical governance and clinical activity within the Adult Mental Health Service, at West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (West Moreton HHS) with a focus on the needs of consumers presenting with acute mental health needs.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated extensive knowledge, expertise and skill in the assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness in a specialised mental health service setting.Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills including the ability to provide high level clinical leadership, advice and direction within a multidisciplinary team and to relevant stakeholders.Demonstrated commitment to leading mental health recovery model of care, evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement to enhance service delivery outcomes.Demonstrated expert knowledge of National and State Mental Health directions and legislation relevant to the provision of specialist mental health services.Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective training to junior medical staff.Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification, preferably also holding Certificate of Advanced Training in Psychiatry of Old Age or Accredited membership of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age.Current registration to practice as a specialist in psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Medical Board of Australia.About West Moreton Health West Moreton Health is one of the most rapidly evolving health services in the south east corner, with a community growth expected to almost double to more than 588,000 by 2036.
