Description: New Forests seeks a qualified candidate to undertake the role of Property Paralegal, supporting the Asset Management and Legal teams. This role will join our North Sydney based team as an independent contractor with the capacity to work 24 hours or more per week. There is the ability to work from home or to use our office facilities as desired. The ideal candidate will have (or be willing to obtain) the following:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced career paralegal to work with the New Forests Asset Management team which is fundamental to the success of our business, along with a small and friendly legal team. This role is focused on the provision of support for all property management and operational matters across New Forests' forestry and agricultural investments in both Australia and New Zealand and for any other issues related to timberland and agricultural ownership.
Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will be responsible for:
Providing advice to assist in the implementation of the operational management of all assets across Australia and New Zealand including keeping up to date records of all land parcels under management and any associated property rights and reviewing all leasehold or other forestry or agricultural interests or rights.Liaising with internal business units and external stakeholders (e.g. property managers, insurers and auditors) as required to properly onboard all assets under management and provide assistance as required to reconcile and update records.Bulk updating of land records when either acquiring or selling assets and communication of land assets with New Forests Investments team, external legal advisors and related stakeholders (property managers, LGAs etc).Monitoring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements relating to land ownership and forestry and agricultural management.Monitoring legal and regulatory changes in the asset management environment in which New Forests operates, and making recommendations on appropriate strategies to manage those changes.Reviewing and adopting new technologies to assist in the record keeping role.Providing ongoing administrative support and undertaking ad hoc projects.Qualifications, Experience and Strengths: We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications, experience, and strengths:
Solid experience as a paralegal, with rural property or agribusiness experience preferred, across various legal jurisdictions within Australia or New Zealand.Understanding of and/or exposure to: property law, rural and agricultural matters, water law, commodities, forestry, carbon markets.Strong understanding of standard FIRB reporting obligations.Strong drafting skills.Strong technical and technology skills.Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.Excellent organisational skills related to time management, multi-tasking, delegation and prioritising.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with people in a variety of positions (internally & externally), along with strong negotiating skills.A team player, who works well under pressure and deadlines.An ability to work independently and take ownership of role, whilst supporting the wider team.How to Apply: We pride ourselves on having a supportive New Forests culture that is inclusive to all and we would love to learn how you can bring your unique skills and experience to our business.
