The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Collating and analysing program information, develop options and conduct detailed planning to support executive decision making and other governance activity in the Innovation, Science and Technology (IS&T) Capability Program Management Office.Thinking strategically and understand how our work contributes to the achievement of wider DSTG and Defence capability outcomes.Drawing insights that will shape program decisions by discovering patterns, anomalies and trends in data, advising on data quality, using relevant business systems or applications.Applying a structured analysis, planning and decision-making approach and effective time management.Working closely with the team and the broader Science and Technology Capability Branch to ensure program planning and assurance are consistent with Group needs and vice versa.About our Team Our team supports the Capability Manager, the Chief Defence Scientist, and the Sponsor, Chief Science Strategic Planning and Engagement.
Decision support is required to make timely decisions and drive program performance.
In this critical enabling role, we provide program governance and we are responsible for driving programmatic ways of delivering capability in Defence.
This team is the engine room that does the analysis required to ensure the right information is available at the right time to make more informed and timely program decisions.
This is achieved through our governance, assurance and reporting processes.
We also provide our projects with guidance when they need help and look across the program and outwards to ensure integration dependencies are managed so that resources are efficiently deployed.
Our team constantly identifies and appraises risks, issues and opportunities; and coordinates tasking to provide context and reduce the raw data for IS&T projects to respond to.

You enjoy the challenge of informing decision-making, strengthening accountability and transparency, and streamlining capability delivery.You are able to communicate ideas clearly to executives and your team.You are a self-starter and able to deal with ambiguity, because the answers are not always obvious.You are comfortable being down in the detail looking for insights in the information, but know when to pull back to see the bigger strategic picture and understand why you are analysing what you are analysing.Previous experience where you were required to draw strategic insights through the detailed analysis of information and present convincing arguments to support executive decision-making is essential.
