Victoria's Housing Statement The Activity Centre Program is a key Housing Statement initiative, to deliver more homes close to services, jobs, and transport across Melbourne.
Increasing housing choice in places that are well-located and maximise use of existing infrastructure and transport is a key priority to support the liveability and sustainability of our neighbourhoods and communities.
We are introducing new planning controls in 10 pilot activity centres, allowing an additional 60,000 homes to be built.
25 new activity centres near train stations or trams have been added to the pilot program currently underway.

The Project Support Officer role supports the development and delivery of Planning Controls within Activity Centres.
The role supports stakeholder and community engagement, prepares a range of project documents, monitors and reports on project status, contributing to risk and issue management, contribute to the processes for project procurement and contract management and establishes and maintains relationships with multiple stakeholders.Position Outcomes The Project Support Officer, Activity Centres, contributes to stakeholder and community engagement efforts, including the development and delivery of Activity Centres.
They support the analysis and reporting of feedback to guide the program's progression.
This role provides high-level administrative and project management support, managing tasks to ensure the effective delivery of the Activity Centres Program.
It involves engaging with key stakeholders across government, local councils, the community, and the development industry.
The officer prepares quality minutes, agendas, papers, presentations, speaking notes, and correspondence, ensuring timely delivery.
They foster team effectiveness by promoting knowledge sharing and contributing to a collaborative workplace culture.
Flexibility and collaboration are key aspects of the role, ensuring alignment with business unit, group, and departmental priorities.
The officer also practices cultural safety by creating inclusive environments that value participation and equity.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned under the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic), consistent with the officer's skills and capabilities.
