About The Role The Project Safety Assurance Manager will be appointed on a fixed-term contract for a minimum of 12 months, taking charge of essential safety compliance initiatives for CMET.
This role will be pivotal in ensuring adherence to contract safety requirements, Rail Safety National Law, and accreditation standards, particularly for the Canberra Light Rail Stage 2 A (LRS2 A) and LRV Supply and Retrofit Works.
The role requires close collaboration with key stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies such as the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR).
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of CMET's project safety management systems, including risk registers and change management.
Ensure compliance with safety laws, CMET's accreditation requirements, and contract terms, with regular reporting and auditing.
Conduct audits, manage corrective actions, and serve as the primary point of contact for project safety matters with stakeholders.
Lead incident investigations, facilitate safety meetings, and align safety assurance practices with CMET's operations.
Engage with Independent Certifiers and Safety Assessors, providing guidance and support to the Projects Team on safety management requirements.
Hold tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related discipline and have a Construction White Card.
Have experience in delivering rail and construction projects in Australia, with a solid understanding of Rail Safety National Law and Work Health and Safety legislation.
Possess expertise in safety management systems, engineering system safety assurance, and risk management.
Have a proven track record working with regulatory bodies, such as ONRSR, to ensure compliance in a project environment.
Demonstrate high-level communication skills, including strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
Manage project safety assurance activities, compliance audits, incident investigations, and stakeholder meetings with key partners like CAF, CMC, and MPC.
Engineering System Safety Assurance certification, ICAM training, lead auditor certification, and asbestos/silica awareness training (desirable).
Familiarity with Management Information Systems (MIS), information management, and change management (desirable).
