Job description:

The W.P. Holman Clinic, Launceston, provides comprehensive specialist inpatient and outpatient Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Clinical Haematology Services to the Northern Tasmanian community. This includes the state-wide brachytherapy service. The W.P Holman Clinic also plays an active role in cancer education and research within Tasmania. The Clinic is situated in the Launceston General Hospital complex and provides direct access to a range of medical, surgical and hospital services required to deliver quality, person-centred cancer care.


The Team:

The W.P. Holman Clinic, Launceston, provides comprehensive specialist inpatient and outpatient Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Clinical Haematology Services to the Northern Tasmanian community.
The W.P Holman Clinic also plays an active role in cancer education and research within Tasmania.
The Clinic is situated in the Launceston General Hospital complex and provides direct access to a range of medical, surgical and hospital services required to deliver quality, person-centred cancer care.

The role:

Manage and coordinate oncology projects that contribute to the strategic objectives of the Northern Cancer Service utilizing a highly developed understanding of clinical trials research.
Responsible for undertaking robust research activities that contribute to Northern Cancer Service policy or projects.
Establish and maintain consultative links within the Agency and with community and industry representatives, and engage with clinical trial coordinators locally, nationally and internationally to facilitate collaborative research efforts for the achievement of strategic objectives.
Manage and support committees or other groups associated with the research arm of the WP Holman Clinic.
Oversee the coordination of departmental and statewide research activities.
Employ high level knowledge of the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) system of Human Research Ethics Committee requirements for the conduct of clinical research within hospitals, the NHMRC Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the Therapeutic Goods Administration Code of Good Clinical Practice (or similar guiding documents as they relate to New Zealand or Hong Kong) in order to effectively coordinate ethics and grant submissions.
