The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security (DEPWS) was established with a clear vision that the Northern Territory's natural assets are managed sustainably for the benefit of all.
Its purpose is to provide evidence-based advice and regulation to support sustainable use of the Northern Territory's natural resources, and protect and preserve its wildlife, parks and reserves.
The Office of Water Security (OWS) is a strategic policy team that advises the Minister for Water Resources; coordinates whole of Government water policy and programs; and works collaboratively with other Government agencies to develop, deliver and report on the Territory Water Plan.
Currently the OWS is recruiting Project Officers at the P2 and P3 levels and applicants will be assessed against both levels.
Successful applicants will be offered appointments based on the available skills and experience.
As a Project Officer (P2), your primary objective is to provide policy, engagement, coordination and project management support to the Office of Water Security in leading implementation of the Territory Water Plan and other strategic water policy reform projects and activities.
Your key duties and responsibilities include providing technical subject matter expertise to support project delivery and policy advice, contributing to the development and implementation of cross-agency research and policy projects, coordinating stakeholder engagement activities, and developing collaborative partnerships.
As a Senior Project Officer (P3), your primary objective and responsibilities will be similar to the P2 Project Officer but at a more complex level.
Both roles require a Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, including hydrogeology, natural resource management, environmental science, engineering or similar.

Your advanced communication and reporting skills will be put to good use as you contribute to the preparation of Ministerial briefings, Cabinet submissions, and communication materials.
Demonstrated research, strategic thinking, and well-developed project management, coordination, and organization skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure, are essential.
