The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin's water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.
The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia's economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations.
The Position The work of the Enhanced Environmental Water Delivery (EEWD) implementation team includes the development of environmental water delivery strategies, as well as operational decision support tools, protocols, and procedures, to enable decisions about environmental water delivery to be made more rapidly and with higher levels of confidence in the outcomes.

The Project Officer role supports the delivery of the Enhanced Environmental Water Delivery (EEWD) project. The EEWD project aims to improve river health outcomes through addressing long–standing issues relating to coordination and delivery of water for the environment throughout the River Murray system. These roles involve a high degree of interaction with established multi–jurisdictional partners to ensure delivery of the project remains on track.
The Project Officer role requires a person with good collaboration skills and sound technical ability. There are lots of great people to work with and skills to learn, while being part of a supportive and collaborative team culture.
Your key responsibilities in this role are to: Support the development of new tools, operational practices and policies to achieve the objectives of the EEWD project.Support team administration and reporting requirements.Perform objective, systematic and evidence-based research or analysis and communicate results.Undertake a mix of technical and policy improvement work and project management.Liaise closely with other work areas across the MDBA and with jurisdictional partner agencies.Represent the agency at cross-agency meetings and other forums.What we offer you: You will have the opportunity to work on projects where you contribute to shaping the future of one of Australia's greatest natural assets and protect it for future generations.At the MDBA you will undertake a variety of interesting and challenging work.
