We assist business to implement sustainable resource efficiency measures and increase productivity; provide funding for innovations which create new jobs in the circular economy for solutions to growing problematic waste streams; and undertake leading-edge work in the areas of disaster waste management, circular economy leadership education and waste infrastructure planning.
About the role: The Project Officer Circular Economy Policy will assist in the development and implementation of circular economy strategy and metrics for the State.
As a requirement under the Green Industries SA Act 2004, the State Waste Strategy supports South Australia to transition to a low waste generation and circular economy.
It also supports the state to become net zero and nature positive.
While the current Strategy identifies waste and zero avoidable landfill targets, the next Strategy is envisioned to go much further into the identification of circular actions including designing out waste, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle and other high order circular economy activities.
This role will also assist with the delivery of a State of Circularity report that identifies and populates relevant circular economy metrics to support the transition to a circular economy in South Australia.
We are looking for someone with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders from other organisations, including Commonwealth, State and local government, industry and not for profit will also be an important feature of this role.
This role is being offered at the ASO6 level for a two year contract.
