The Role: This is a temporary position currently funded to November 2026 which will oversee the delivery of integrated and multidisciplinary civil design packages for the Mareeba CBD Blueprint Project.
The project is funded under the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (RPPP), an initiative of the Australian Government aimed at supporting transformative investment in regional, rural and remote Australia.
The program focuses on unifying regional places, fostering economic growth and serving communities.
The purpose of the Mareeba CBD Blueprint project is to undertake planning, engagement and design and development of construction-ready plans to revitalise the whole of the Mareeba CBD between Herberton St and Lloyd St and between Constance St and Railway Avenue.
The final deliverable is a comprehensive Precinct Plan that will provide Council with construction-ready work packages, suitable for future grant funding.
The Project Manager role involves managing specialist engineering consultants, internal and external stakeholders and providing critical recommendations to Council management at key project stages.
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the final designs balance technical excellence, cost-effectiveness and operational practicality to meet Council's objectives of delivering construction-ready, grant-funding-suitable plans.
What we are looking for: You will have proven experience and significant achievement in successfully leading and managing complex, multidisciplinary civil design projects, including preparation of construction-ready designs and contract documentation, that align with organisational goals, project milestones and budgets.You will have tertiary qualifications in engineering or a similar, relevant discipline along with comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering design principles and standards and expertise in drainage, accessibility and urban infrastructure.You will have strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with experience in engaging diverse stakeholders and producing clear, concise reports.You will be able to prove your ability to prepare and manage tender and contract documentation, evaluate design options, analyse submissions and make recommendations that balance technical requirements, cost-effectiveness and long-term operational impacts.You will have a strong, analytical approach to problem solving, enhanced by your advanced computer literacy particularly with project management and design software.What we can offer you: Temporary, full-time position.LGOA Level 7/1 - $105,910 per annum.Mareeba Allowance - up to $2,080 per annum.Up to 12% employer superannuation contributions.5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.Work/Life balance – Rostered day off (19-day month).Lifestyle benefits such as access to a Fitness Passport.Applications close: Tuesday, 14 January 2025 For further information about this position visit our website at: https://msc.qld.gov.au/council/employment/vacancies/ or contact Jacqueline Perkowicz, Manager Assets & Projects, on 4086 4708 during business hours only.
