Over the coming months, the team will grow exponentially, offering exciting opportunities for personal and professional development as we deliver many rebuild and transformation projects for our community.About the OpportunityLead the way with this newly created position as Project Manager – Managing Contractor for multiple projects restoring Lismore's local government area to a better state. Based in Lismore within the Northern Rivers area, reporting to the Director of Delivery. This role will lead the charge of delivering high-quality, safe, and environmentally sound projects to the managing contractor and include duties such as overseeing the relations and execution of projects, performance, cost, and quality of the managing contractor. You will also need to engage and communicate powerfully with both internal and external stakeholders.Key Responsibilities include:Establish close working relationships with managing contractors to develop an environment of cooperation in delivering numerous projects on time and within budget.Ensure critical milestones are met in the program/s or prompt reporting of program slippages with recommended corrective actions to ensure successful project or contract outcomes.Preparation of contractor packages.Manage negotiations, communications, and expectations.Maintain a strong safety focus and flexibility to operate on a large project or between numerous smaller projects.Be influential in leading our team and overseeing the strategic execution of our large-scale landslip and pavement projects.A strong track record of coordinating all aspects of projects to achieve project success, including time, cost, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.Ensure project adherence to regulatory, legislative, and corporate governance requirements.What you'll need to be successful:BA engineering, civil, and/or project management qualifications.Experience managing and Managing Contractor Contract.Experience in community infrastructure, earthworks, drainage, road construction, and buildings.Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts.Demonstrated high-level decision-making, negotiation, and influencing skills.Significant experience in managing major subcontract packages for large-scale complex building or infrastructure projects.Robust understanding of relevant legislation.Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build a high-performing team that delivers excellence.Detailed knowledge and demonstrated high-level experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and cost control.Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.Additional Information:Competitive remuneration for the right candidate.This position is a full-time, term-based appointment until 31 December 2026.This is an annualised salary rate + superannuation.The position will be based primarily at our Flood Portfolio Office in Lismore.
