The Information Technology Office embeds an operating model with a view to enabling a greater level of engagement across the University, proactively serving as trusted advisors in the identification and prioritisation of continuous improvement initiatives and the delivery of digital technology change, whilst ensuring the ongoing availability of the IT environment.ABOUT THE ROLEReporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position will be responsible for the effective end-to-end management of technology projects within the University including but not limited to Learning & Teaching, Research, and Back Office solutions, Cybersecurity, Infra, EUC & Networking initiatives. Collaborating closely with university stakeholders, the project manager will effectively prioritise, plan and deliver a diverse range of projects using a recognised and appropriate project management ResponsibilitiesStakeholder engagement to director level. Work closely and collaboratively with a diverse range of university functions to effectively prioritise initiatives, developing and delivering on business-led project roadmaps. Oversee a diverse range of projects benefitting all areas of the University, ensuring that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality metrics. Lead the end-to-end delivery of technology projects using a recognised and appropriate methodology. Provide clear and concise reporting to various University governance forums and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders ensuring that risks and impacts to time, cost or quality metrics are clearly called out. Effectively manage project finances and governance, ensuring that projects are delivered with the allocated budget. Effectively manage project risks and issues, escalation to leadership in a timely manner when required. Manage external delivery partners in a cooperative fashion. Qualifications & ExperienceA proven track record in IT project management including the delivery of multiple concurrent projects of varying scale. Recognised current certification in relevant delivery practices, such as Prince2 or AgilePM. Experience leading co-located and remote delivery teams, and in leading teams including a mix of internal and external resources. Relevant postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or Extensive experience and management expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Knowledge, skills & abilitiesStrong communication, negotiation and influencing skills and experience applying them successfully at all levels of an organisation with strong relationship-building and people skills. A focus on delivery and achievement against key project metrics. An adaptable attitude, selecting and appropriate delivery approach and applying it in manner suited to the maturity level of the environment. The ability to work across varied domains, context-switching effectively. The ability to work independently in a busy team environment, taking initiative when necessary and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines. Familiarity with change management methodologies, and in delivering change effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
