We are looking for motivated Project Geologists to join our team based in Orange, NSW.
Our company has recently partnered with international major Gold Fields to significantly ramp up our exploration activity in the region.
This is a unique opportunity to work in an exciting exploration project under the umbrella of a major.
Reporting to the onsite Senior Exploration Geologist, you will be responsible for undertaking field work, collection of high-quality data, planning and execution of exploration programs in highly prospective tenure in the East Lachlan Fold Belt in New South Wales.
You will contribute to the generation and refinement of exploration targets and work collaboratively with the exploration team to implement exploration programs to cost effectively test and progress those targets through to initial drill testing and ultimately resource definition.
You will also be working collaboratively with the Gold Fields Regional Exploration Team.
This role is offered as residential from Orange on a 5-2 days roster.
About the role:Lead the integration of all existing and new geological, geochemical and geophysical data into appropriate software for storage, presentation and interrogationUsing your experience and available data, generate robust exploration targetsPlan, budget and submit approved work programsUndertake field mapping, rock chip sampling, core logging, soil sampling and rehabilitation activities as and when requiredMonitor and report on program status to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery, and provide management guidance against budget, forecast and outlook of the annual exploration planCollate and deliver accurate results, interpretations and associated presentations or reports within agreed timeframes to inform the long-term target pipeline outlookAssist in delivering technical and statutory reportsMentoring of junior geologists and field staff as requiredBe organized with a strong safety-focused work ethic.About you:Minimum Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology, honours preferredSolid experience in exploration, with previous experience in gold systems and/or magmatic systems preferredExperience with geological database systems for data inputExperience using Microsoft Office Suite and geological software such as QGIS, ArcGIS and LeapfrogReport writing skillsWorking understanding of NSW exploration approvals processes highly regardedPossess a valid manual Driver's LicenseExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Your application will include the following questions:
