About the Role
Flexible position across Sunshine, Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong
Functioning with minimal supervision, this position plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing the Department of Transport's successful execution of vital road projects. As the leader within this domain, the incumbent oversees diverse tasks to ensure projects adhere to strict timelines, financial constraints, and stringent quality and safety benchmarks. Reporting directly to the Team Leader- Planned Maintenance, the Project Leader assumes responsibility for furnishing specialized insights into project planning, design, procurement, contract formulation, and execution of works, as well as overseeing surveillance activities and navigating complex stakeholder engagements. Moreover, effective financial oversight is integral to this role. The primary scope associated with these roles are the delivery of Pavement Resurfacing, Rehabilitation, Major Patching, and Line marking within Maintenance Operations.
The Project Leader actively contributes to shaping and implementing project initiatives, aligning them with the Department's overarching strategic goals and fostering constructive relationships with stakeholders. A key component of this role entails fostering collaborative ties with municipalities, utility agencies, contractors, and other departments within the Victorian State Government. Collaborating closely with project teams, the incumbent monitors progress diligently to ensure seamless project delivery across all facets: cost efficiency, adherence to timelines, quality standards, and effective stakeholder management.
In addition, the Senior Project Engineer ensures rigorous adherence to legislative mandates, leveraging advanced contract management skills, and applying professional expertise to uphold project integrity and efficacy.
Key Responsibilities
Effective Delivery of Projects – Has effectively delivered projects ensuring that budget, schedule, environmental, safety and quality outcomes are achieved.
Stakeholder Management and Community Engagement – The incumbent has actively engaged with key stakeholders and the community.
Supplier Engagement – With support of Commercial Team engages suppliers to ensure the timely completion of commercial and project deliverables.
Quality and Risk Management – The incumbent ensures that projects meet and are delivered in accordance with project management, financial, risk, quality, safety procedures and policy and complies with regulations.
Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will involve defining tasks, coordinating execution, and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery of outcomes. With your adept stakeholder management skills, you'll enhance client satisfaction and address stakeholder issues effectively. Understanding the business and commercial aspects, you'll optimize operations and oversee engagements with external vendors, ensuring adherence to agreements. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to empathize with stakeholders, tailor communications, and drive service delivery. Additionally, you'll contribute to strategic planning by aligning daily activities with organizational goals, setting objectives, and guiding the team towards success.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
Experience at managing infrastructure projects.
A relevant tertiary degree in engineering, project management or at significant and equivalent experience.
