About the roleThe Senior Project Manager is accountable for the development and delivery of capital works projects by undertaking project management activities. This also includes working with a range of prospective and existing tenants where there is a need for capital works to ensure optimal outcomes for all parties. This involves consultation, drafting project documents, negotiation of contractors and interpretation of Government Departmental policy to ensure time, quality and budget commitments are met.

To be successful you will need:

Proven experience in all aspects of project management from planning, development of complex technical design briefs, concept plans, submissions and business cases and the skills to lead, motivate, manage and monitor the delivery of a diverse range of large and complex capital investment projects and programs, including identifying and assessing project risks.

Detailed knowledge of asset management, asset planning and project management principles.

Strong leadership skills and proven abilities to work with and mentor a team.

Detailed knowledge of the standards, legislation that applies to built infrastructure and land holdings.

Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, under broad direction.

Communicate, liaise, consult and negotiate in a highly effective, flexible and influential manner, including managing conflict with tact and diplomacy with a range of stakeholders including external tenants.

Demonstrated ability to successfully manage contractual arrangements with an external service provider.

Appropriate Qualifications in Building and Construction, Indentured Trade, Engineering, Architecture, Planning or similar discipline and experience.

Special Conditions

The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
