About You:
With a bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field, you should have 10-15 years of proven experience in project controls, including project cost control and management, preferably within large infrastructure or resources projects. You should possess a solid background in cost control, scheduling, earned value management (EVM), and budgeting. Advanced knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is required, along with experience in managing Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) contracts. Proficiency in cost management software like EcoSys or Prism G2, and experience with tools such as Primavera P6 and SAP, is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks and clearly present complex information to various internal and external stakeholders. About the role:
Reporting to the Director PMO, this role is pivotal and may involve hands-on cost control during the pre-construction phases, developing and maintaining robust control processes, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget through the construction phase. You'll collaborate closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, and various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting, effective change management, and adherence to project controls fundamentals. Your responsibilities will include facilitating capital estimates, managing project schedules, monitoring costs against budgets, and driving compliance with cost control processes across the department. With a focus on identifying opportunities and providing expert advice, you'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects while guiding strategic decisions on scope, functional specifications, and broader project considerations. This role sits within the newly formed PMO and has the opportunity to frame and develop the systems, processes and tools required to help deliver the program of projects currently in train, whilst setting up Hydro Tasmania to deliver future major/mega capital projects as they are identified.
