The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role The Training and Capability Branch leads an agile volunteer and staff development framework, coupled with delivery of strategic planning and innovative capability enhancement initiatives, to promote service delivery excellence.
The RFSQ Training and Development function comprises four teams – staff development, volunteer training development, volunteer training delivery, and resource development.
The Volunteer Training Development function focuses on the design and evolution of the volunteer training development framework and supporting training packages to ensure volunteer development programs, products and strategies meet national training requirements.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for providing effective and efficient support in the design and development of the volunteer training curriculum, working closely with stakeholders across Areas, Districts and Region.
You will also provide advice and support to volunteer trainers regarding the format and delivery of training courses and programs and supporting products, to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and compliant with industry standards.
Key requirements Highly desirable requirements Knowledge and/or experience with the provision of administrative support in a project environment.
Knowledge of, or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organisation.
Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Provide administrative support to the development of the volunteer training development framework and products, through involvement in planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation of project activities and initiatives.
Assist in the design, development, implementation, and review the volunteer training curriculum to ensure volunteers have access to suitable and fit-for-purpose training products.
Support the administration and coordination of a range of workshops and meetings relevant to the volunteer training development objectives and participate in projects to ensure positive outcomes and business objectives are achieved.
Contribute to the development, implementation and review of systems, policies and procedures that support the volunteer training curriculum.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of reports, correspondence, briefings relevant to business objectives in accordance with departmental requirements.
Undertake research, analysis and provide advice for continuous improvement to support the development and adherence to quality systems.
