Program Officer – Youth - Full Time PositionCouncil's Community Care Branch is recruiting for the temporary position of Program Officer – School Focused Youth Service – R2440.Position ObjectivesWorking with schools to facilitate the delivery of targeted interventions for students to:Improve attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism.Improve engagement in education.Improve the social connectedness, resilience and wellbeing.Improve the system response for vulnerable young people by addressing barriers to engaging in education.Coordination of local area School Focused Youth Service resources to:Respond to service gaps identified at the local level.Facilitate a coordinated partnership approach between schools, youth services and program providers through the Schools Wellbeing Network.Support schools to build capability in supporting vulnerable students to remain actively engaged in education.Working within the Youth Engagement Services team to assist with delivery of MRCC youth programs to support the implementation of the Youth Engagement Strategy.Qualifications and ExperienceQualifications in Welfare, Social Work, Education and/or Community Development and relevant experience.Experience and understanding of the education and youth service sectors.Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development, including risk and protective factors.Experience working with schools to develop programs to support vulnerable young people.Experience in planning and facilitating youth engagement programs.Salary and ConditionsThe position is classified within Band 6 of Council's Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $90,876 to $98,943 per annum plus statutory superannuation.Mildura Rural City Council is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a culture that values diversity.
