It's an exciting time to be joining Navantia Australia, one of Australia's leading companies in the Maritime Sustainment industry.Navantia Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for a R&D and Innovation professional to join the team out of its Sydney office. In the role you will be responsible for coordinating, overseeing and executing the successful delivery of R&D, Innovation and Transformation projects. We are looking for a passionate project management professional who excels in using their experience and skills to ensure efficient project leadership and alignment with Navantia business priorities.In this role, you will:In collaboration with colleagues across the R&D, Innovation, and Technology groups in Navantia, develop and execute structured programs for the effective delivery of initiatives.Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring the aligning of efforts with Navantia capability & delivery goals.Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and adjust strategies as needed to deliver quality outcomes.Establish and maintain project management standards in compliance with accepted methodologies including those specific to Defence projects as needed.Ensure compliance with Defence regulations, security protocols, and quality standards.Manage project documentation and reporting, considering classified information when necessary.Produce quality project reporting to bring transparency across the project portfolios.Ensure allocation of resources with the relevant skills are effectively used across projects.Optimize resource utilization while accounting for security clearances and specialized expertise.Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve resource conflicts in a classified environment.Identify project risks unique to Defence applications (e.g., technology security, geopolitical factors).Develop mitigation plans that align with Navantia and Defense requirements.Foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive management within the Defense context.Engage with Defence experts, senior military personnel, and industry partners.Engage with University collaborators to ensure anticipated outcomes of collaborations are achieved.Facilitate communication, alignment, and collaboration in a classified and sensitive environment.Build strong relationships to drive successful project outcomes while safeguarding Navantia and stakeholder requirements.As the ideal candidate, you will have:Relevant bachelor's or master's degree in business, engineering, project management or related fields.Certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, or PRINCE2 and exposure to AGILE project deliver methodologies.Experience in the establishment and effective operation of PMO capability.Proven track record of leading complex R&D, Innovations and technology projects or programs.Experience in managing teams, budgets, and timelines.Ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional groups toward common goals.Understanding of Defence technologies, systems, and processes would be an advantage but not a disqualifier.Experience with delivering outcomes across of the R&D and Innovation program lifecycle from early-stage academic research through to commercialisation.Understanding of the R&D University collaboration ecosystem would be well regarded.Demonstrated Collaboration and Stakeholder Management expertise.Ability to engage with academics, Defence experts, government agencies, and industry partners.Experience building strong relationships and fostering collaboration.Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to diverse audiences.Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance.What it's like to work with Navantia AustraliaNavantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.
