The position is located in the Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Office of Assistance Coordination, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC). The office is responsible for the management and implementation of foreign assistance-funded programmatic initiatives for the region: the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), the Iraq Civilian Assistance programs, the Syria Assistance program, and the Near Eastern Regional Democracy (NERD) program.
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants applying at the GS-12 level:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience researching up-to-date U.S. foreign policy goals, directions, and concerns regarding the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Experience reviewing foreign assistance policies and programs to assess operational impact.
Experience drafting memos and other written products for organizational leadership.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
Applicants applying at the GS-13 level:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience analyzing challenges of U.S. foreign policy goals, directions, and concerns with regard to the Middle East and North Africa.
Experience utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative methods to analyze, assess, and improve effectiveness of foreign assistance programs.
Experience organizing, directing, and conducting complex studies of foreign assistance projects.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
