Undertake a range of project management activities to enable delivery of the Small Schools Program.
About the position: The Statewide OHS Services Systems and Support team is responsible for the program management of the OHS Services Program. This team works closely with the OHS Services team to support the delivery of regular, consistent, quality, hands-on service with OHS and Emergency Management tasks across the state. The team is cross-functional; from designing systems and processes, supporting capability building, and monitoring and evaluating the program for continuous improvement.
An exciting opportunity for a Program Advisor to join the team has become available.
This role will provide project management support and strategic operational advice to effectively support the delivery of the Small Schools Program (SSP).
About the Small Schools Program The Small Schools Program is a joint initiative between the VSBA and the Employee Health Safety Wellbeing and Inclusion Division (ESWID), as part of the Rural and Regional Support Initiative. The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs, and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. It also supports schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants. ESWID supports the department to provide a work environment and workplace climate that is safe, protecting against risks to physical and psychological health.
The Small Schools Program supports small rural and regional schools across Victoria to enhance the capability of principals and reduce their administrative load by assisting them to complete their various facilities and OHS obligations. The program currently supports 16 clusters of approximately 21 schools across Victoria.
About the role The role works closely with a supportive operational project team from both ESWID and the VSBA and reports into both areas.
Responsibilities of the role include the following activities: Undertaking project management activities to enable delivery of the program. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including schools, regional and central office staff. The development of written and other communications collateral to support the implementation of programs and projects. Effective communication with stakeholders, including influencing and conflict management skills. Administration of a range of sub-programs within the SSP including a funding grant and group purchasing activities. Contributing to the strategic program development within the fields of OHS and facilities management. Resolving operational service delivery problems consistent with the objectives of the program, ensuring alignment with specific funding criteria and guidelines. Providing advice on issues relating to program delivery and to inform continuous improvement. Supporting the program in other ways as required. This is a fixed-term, full-time role available to 30 June 2026, based in Melbourne. You have sound verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to support the program's operational and program support functions.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience Demonstrated experience in supporting projects or programs. Experience in interpreting operations, human resources, and/or financial policies and undertaking related processes. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a supportive and cooperative team environment. Demonstrated experience in effectively engaging and building relationships with stakeholders. Sound organisation and office management skills, including experience with Microsoft Office.
