The opportunity Flinders University is seeking an accomplished Professor & Teaching Program Director in Social Work to provide academic leadership in research, teaching, and community engagement. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Social Work education within the College of Education, Psychology, and Social Work in Adelaide, South Australia. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Dean (Education) and the Professional Accreditation Lead to drive the development, implementation, and review of innovative teaching and learning initiatives. You will also provide leadership in research, teaching, and community engagement, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic plans and goals. About you Ph D qualified or equivalent in Social Work or a related field, with eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), you will possess the following skills and experience: Demonstrated understanding of the changing nature of social work practice including interdisciplinary approaches, the role of technology, evaluation methods and impact, utilising large data sets, and the broadening of the person in environment paradigm with expertise in at least one of the areas. Evidence of significant, impactful and future focused educational leadership and practice in higher education including leading innovation and inspiring excellence amongst colleagues. Demonstrated evidence of recent innovative, student centred teaching and engagement in Social Work at tertiary level supporting student success. Significant experience in curriculum development, review and improvement, including internal and external accreditation activities. Experience in international collaboration for teaching and research. A distinguished international reputation in research in an area aligned with the College's research strengths evidenced by sustained high quality publications and successful competitive external grants. Demonstrated excellence in the supervision of honours and research higher degree students. Significant contribution to the discipline and/or profession within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local, national and international level. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated evidence of the ability to develop, establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry. Demonstrated knowledge of the broader tertiary environment and the future implications of this for teaching and research. Term and remuneration The term of the appointment is continuing, on a full-time basis. Relocation assistance will also be provided if required.
