About the role A new and exciting position based out of our multifunctional riverfront site at Port of Brisbane! The Production/Fabrication Manager will oversee our manufacturing and refurbishing operations for fuel tanks. Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you will be charged with ensuring efficient production processes, meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe working environment. Key areas are:
Production Planning and Scheduling:  Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization; Coordinate with sales, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control standards for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality specifications and industry standards Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and waste minimization; Collaborate with engineering, fabrication and maintenance teams to implement new technologies, equipment upgrades, and automation solutions Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of trade professionals, production and scheduling staff Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods What you will bring Demonstrated background in production management, process optimisation, quality assurance, and team leadership within a manufacturing environment Analytical approach and reporting ability to ensure efficient scheduling of all jobs in the workshop, tracking hours completed and costs on the job Strong knowledge of production processes, quality management systems, and best practice manufacturing principles Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives Excellent communication and strong organisation skills with the ability to work within a small team and with minimal supervision Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality standards applicable to fuel tank manufacturing Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
