Product Manager - Toys (Retail Buyer)
Location: Ormond, VIC

This business is a leader in the Australian toy and FMCG industry, importing products from the great production centres in Asia and beyond, in turn marketing and distributing those products within Australia and in numerous global markets. Their retailer clients continuously seek to bring new products to existing and new markets, and our client wishes to recruit a skilled Product Manager - Toys (Retail Buyer) to work closely with the management team and their clients to ensure their continued success.
The business focuses on delivering exceptional value across all toy categories, with a particular emphasis on impulse buys, plush toys, arts and crafts, boys' toys, and girls' toys. Their innovative approach and strategic sourcing set them apart in the market and are key to their continued success.
Role Overview: They are seeking a talented Product Manager - Toys (Retail Buyer) to join their team. Reporting to the General Manager, Sales and Sourcing, you will be responsible for sourcing and selecting products that align with their diverse market strategy and customer needs. This full-time, ongoing role offers a competitive salary, negotiable in the range of $115k to $125k plus applicable superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of new product ranges for Australian and international markets across all toy categories, with a primary focus on impulse, plush, arts and crafts, boys, and girls.
Conduct thorough market research via diverse channels to identify new product opportunities, staying abreast of market trends, NPD data, and competitor products.
Develop and execute effective buying strategies for all toy categories.
Source and select products that meet market trends and consumer demands.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best deals.
Collaborate with the General Manager and sales team to ensure product assortments align with business objectives.
Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
Manage inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and identify potential new suppliers.
Conduct regular performance reviews of product categories and recommend improvements.

Skills and Qualifications:

At least 2 to 3, preferably more, years of proven experience as a Retail Buyer, preferably within the toy or wholesale sector, with demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
Understanding of market trends and consumer behaviour.
Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent international travel, sometimes scheduled with minimal notice.
Tertiary qualifications in a highly relevant discipline are highly regarded; however, we will accept other qualifications, such as a relevant Cert IV (or agreed substitute) if other relevant professional experience is attractive.
Unrestricted rights to work full time in Australia.
