The RoleWithin the Product Management function, the EL 1 Product Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex product management work within an integrated workforce.
They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An EL 1 Product Manager will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role.
They will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice.
They will have in-depth knowledge of the Product Management function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance, and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function.
They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political, or operational outcomes for Defence.
About our TeamThe DAS SPO is responsible for the sustainment and through-life support of the Mine Hunter Coastal vessels, Deployable Autonomous and Robotic Mine Warfare Systems, Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour, Mine Clearance Diving, Hyperbaric Systems, General Specialist Dive Equipment, Signature Measurement, and Autonomous systems so the Australian Defence Force (ADF) can fight and win in the Maritime environment.
Our Ideal CandidateThe Diving, Autonomous and Signatures System Program Office (DAS SPO) is seeking an EL 1 Product Manager to head up the Diving and Hyperbaric Products Sustainment team, within the Sustainment Branch of DAS SPO.
The incumbent will have a degree of autonomy to achieve tasks and on how best to work with a large range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will need to be able to manage a complex workload independently whilst being able to influence others who they do not have direct management control over.
The role is designed for someone who can make decisions with a demonstrated track record of delivering excellent outcomes, regardless of timeframe pressures.
If you are highly organised, self-motivated, able to work independently, and can confidently brief others, then this role is for you.
Key QualificationsHave strong product management and complex problem-solving skills and experience to meet the demands of this position.Be able to communicate effectively via a range of means and mediums, including the ability to represent DAS SPO at high-level forums.Have strong stakeholder management/networking skills, and no difficulty engaging with senior leadership, and representatives on complex management work.Possess an ability to lead a team, as well as an ability to achieve required outcomes while maintaining a good ability to interact and cooperate with other stakeholders as part of normal duties.Exercise Section 23 delegations in accordance with Defence Accountable Instructions, Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), and The Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act 2013.NotesSecurity Clearance
